| What is the Application Process? |
| The Housing Authority of the City of Greeley and the Weld County Housing Authority accept applications for Public Housing and Section 8 during normal business hours. No appointment is necessary to complete an application.
Once your application has been processed and entered into the computer, you will receive a letter in the mail confirming that your application is now on the waiting list. We cannot estimate your place on the list please do not call and ask your place on the list. All information will be sent to you in the mail. Correct and current mailing addresses are important. It is important that you notify us through a change report form any time your cirmcustances change. Some changes in your circmustances may change your place on the waiting list.
During the call-up phase (when you are called from the list) you will be sent a color coded letter. The letter will require you to follow the directions in the letter. If you do not respond to the letter by the deadline stated in that letter, your application will be denied and you will need to reapply.

| How do I submit a maintenance request? |
| Maintenance for Public Housing units can be requested by phone.
There are two types of work orders. Routine and emergency work orders. Emergency work orders as defined by HUD are work orders involving safety and sanitation issues, such as:
- If a unit has ONE toilets and it is clogged. If there is more than one toilet and one is clogged, it is not an emergency.
- If a ground level door or window is not secure. Either it can't lock, or it is totally missing.
- If it is winter time and the heater is not working due to a mechanical
- failure. If your gas gets shut off for non-payment of your bill, it is not a work order.
- Broken pipes, and an odor of gas are also emergency work order issues.
- In case of fire, smoke, or other emergencies not related to repair,
please call 9-1-1 first, then notify the Public Housing Manager.
HUD allows Housing Authorities 24-hours to take a work order from emergency status to routine. For example if you have no heat, that is an emergency work order. If the Maintenance crew brings you a space heater, the emergency has been taken care of. The emergency work order is closed and a routine work order is then issued. This allow Housing Authorities to call a furnace specialist if needed.
Routine work orders are all other calls for repair or maintenance. HUD allows Housing Authorities 22 days to complete a routine work order. However, if your work order has not been addressed within 2 weeks, please call the Public Housing Manager and verify the status of your work order.
The number to request a work order is (970) 353-7437. The Answering Service will call one of the staff to address your situation if it is an emergency work order. If you call the weekend number during the week, you will get an answering machine. The machine is checked several times a day. If you choose to leave a message, we will generate a work order automatically. It is important for you to leave us your name, apartment address and number, and a good phone number so we can call you if there is a question or a problem. Leave as many details about what the Maintenance people need to fix or replace so they will be sure to have the correct parts when they come to your apartment.
